The Falmouth Hotel, Falmouth, can proudly lay claim to the crown of ‘Grand Dame’, having been the first commercial hotel to be built in the town, back in 1865.
A striking, Victorian chateau-style hotel set in 5 acres of landscaped gardens, we enjoy a prime seafront location, overlooking Falmouth Bay and Castle Beach. On one side is Pendennis Castle, the headland, beach and sea and, on the other, views over to the famous port of Falmouth. From the hotel, it is an easy stroll into the town centre and the maritime area, making it amongst the most popular places to stay in Falmouth.
Falmouth is an historic port town and was once the starting point for the Packet Ships, which took mail from the UK around the world. Sited on the edge of one of the most stunning natural harbours in Europe, Falmouth’s maritime tradition continues to the present day.
The local area of Falmouth is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Cornish coast and is an easy drive from Cornwall’s capital city of Truro, the mystical far west of Cornwall, and many local area attractions. There are plenty of excellent beaches nearby and outdoor activities include boat trips along the coast, sailing, kayaking, fishing, diving and walking.
ATTRACTIONS IN THE LOCAL AREA
The National Maritime Museum provides activities for children whatever the weather and the popular Flambards theme park, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, and Trebah Gardens are all perfect for family days out – and all within easy driving distance. For those that enjoy history bought to life, Pendennis Castle sits on the headland just a stone’s throw from the hotel and is well worth a visit. The world famous Eden Project runs a regular programme of events and is approximately 1 hour’s drive away. Guests of the hotel can benefit from our preferential rates and ability to queue-jump at the Eden Project.
